Let’s be honest, you probably searched “Yung Joc Hair” to see his crazy coloured perm which he revealed on social media back in 2019!
Somewhere in between the most outlandish Dennis Rodman hair moments and Coolio’s struggle braids lies Yung Jocs colourful perm! We had to cover this for its cultural impact on social media and memes which shortly followed.
Besides his shock value hairstyle, we are also going to revisit some of his past hairstyles which include braids, buzz cuts & the faded Afro.
Here are the best Yung Joc Hair Moments
Coloured Perm
As if changing the texture of his hair wasn’t enough to catch the attention of the masses from an afro into a perm we saw Joc then request his hair to be coloured.
In an interview with hypehair.com Jocs hairstylist explains the process and the reason behind his new colorful hairdo.
“It was basically a bleach lifting and then we put a toner over it which is the blue that we put over it. I had two different volumes of bleach so you get the two different shades of blue in the hair. It’s like getting a relaxer, times two, just to get that color vibrant like that.”
Joc initially set out with the intentions of looking better than usher who wore a similar style around that time.
Once the job was done social media couldn’t stop with the jokes! Whilst this took place Joc made sure to capitalise on the moment attending more hosting parties, music streams going up and viewership increase on the hit TV Show love and Hip Hop!
If there’s one thing we’ve learnt about Joc its his ability to spark social conversation and go viral!
Braids
Prior to his coloured perm we saw Joc in his high top braids which he wore in multiple patterns and styles.
During his time on Love and Hip Hop as well as social media we got to see multiple different styles from tribal cornrows to a 3D portrait of 2pac embedded in his hair. It doesn’t get more creative than that!
Buzz Cut
For most of the masses Joc was introduced with the smash hit “it’s going down”. In the visuals we see Joc in his relatively low buzz cut which he wore for most of his rap career.
The buzz cut is his current hairstyle having cut his perm off!
Afro Fade
The afro fade continues to be one of Jocs best looks! Whilst growing his hair with the intention to install braids we saw Joc taper fade the sides so his hair was presentable along the way.
The afro taper fade tends to look more clean, classic, and mature which can also fade into the beard. You have multiple choices should you be inspired by this look!
