Rapper Dan Sur has made headlines as the first artist to surgically implant gold chains directly into his scalp. 👀
Now that’s one way to get attention in the age of social media!
Sur reportedly underwent a unique cosmetic procedure to attach dozens of gold hooks to his head, from which he now dangles even more gold chains. OUCH!
A Bold Move for a Bold Look
The surgery took place back in April 2021 after which he shared his motivation behind the daring transformation in one of his videos.
“The truth is that I wanted to do something different because I see that everyone dyes their hair. I hope not everyone copies me now,” he explained.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen rappers flaunt their wealth in outrageous ways—just as grills in the mouth became a symbol of excess in hip hop, Dan Sur has taken it a step further by turning his entire head into a display of opulence
Sur revealed that the gold chains are secured by hooks implanted into his skull, adding, “This is my hair. Golden hair.” He proudly declared himself the first rapper in history to have gold hair implanted, a claim that seems hard to dispute.
The Price of Gold: A Heavy Crown to Bear
While the exact value of Sur’s golden hair remains unknown, his bold move certainly brings a new meaning to the phrase “heavy is the head that wears the crown.”
Whether his unusual hairstyle will spark a trend or serve as a cautionary tale remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Dan Sur has definitely made his mark.
Warnings from Medical Experts
While Sur’s golden locks may be unique, medical professionals have raised serious concerns about the procedure.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Agullo cautioned against following in the rapper’s footsteps, highlighting the significant risks involved. “Implants like this are not safe.
They introduce an easy path for bacteria between the outside world and the internal body, in this case, the bone covering the brain,” Dr. Agullo warned. He also expressed concern about the weight of the gold chains, which could potentially dislodge the implants or even fracture the skull.
Dermatologist Dr. Mona Gohara echoed these concerns, warning that the procedure could lead to permanent hair loss due to follicle damage, scarring, or scalp inflammation.
“I would strongly discourage anyone from undergoing this procedure, for all the risks and complications involved,” Dr. Gohara advised, especially considering the long-term consequences.
