Nike Tech Trainer is without question a glimpse into the future of Smart footwear and apparel. Nike has announced they will release the Adapt BB on February 17th 2019.

Retail Price: $350 / £299.95

The FUTURE IS HERE

The new Nike Adapt BB basketball shoe was designed and created with the intention to solve a problem on the basketball court, the problem being while playing the sport the foot slightly expands which results in feeling comfortable at one point of the game then feeling a slight discomfort at another point of the game.

So Nike has come up with one of its most advanced innovate ways to provide long-lasting comfort for athletes. Nike Adapt (Nike Tech Trainer) a system which creates on the go conform by introducing self-power lacing system controlled by an app and continually updated firmware.

Nike purposely chose to pick basketball to launch this tech into its foot design. “We picked basketball as the first sport for Nike Adapt intentionally because of the demands that athletes put on their shoes,” says Eric Avar, Nike VP Creative Director of Innovation.

To make sure the shoe actually solved the problem for athletes and was great on court, Nike of course had professional athletes test its performance. With Jayson Tatum being one of the first athletes to test this and being featured in the marketing campaign he goes on to say,

“Being one of the first athletes to wear the shoe and being picked as a representative of the future of Nike basketball means a lot. That the app allows the ability to put the shoe on and touch the button, change the colours, see the percentage on the battery…it’s just cool.”

The most impressive thing about the Adapt BB is that the firmware included means Nike can continue to improve the product even after a customer purchase, with regular update information via the app. To adjust your Nike Tech Trainer you will need to access the app and then swipe up (tighten) or down (loosen) on an app setting it is labelled “L” or “R.” HOW? Installed In the trainer is Bluetooth tech which is paired with your smartphone.

The technology from Nike reminds me just how much the world is digital and how it will only be more advanced as time goes by. My favourite entrepreneur Gary Vee speaks to this same innovation as he makes examples of consumers in the future buying SMART tech belts which would loosen up after eating a heavy meal and tighten itself back up again as necessary.

I am yet to try and test a pair myself however I imagine the self-lacing system once activated will provide a seamless activation of tightening and loosening while on the court.

Sneaker heads and basketball lovers are going to love this new product from Nike as its peaks and features make for a reasonable price. Colours will range from Nike tech trainer black and white with the ability to customize the light on the side as the shoe adjusts. This will be change via the app
