A new ranking tells us what we already know.
We did not need a formal study to suspect this, yet New York has been named the worst U.S. city for dating.
Researchers from FetishFinder ran the analysis across the 20 largest U.S. cities.

They measured six factors: the population of single people, likelihood of marriage, annual divorce rate, rate of people actively looking for relationships, quality of life, and cost of living.
“New York may have the highest population of single individuals, but it’s also the worst city in the U.S. to start dating,” reads the report. “By all metrics except for the population of singles, New York lags behind other cities. This ranking is due to New York’s high cost of living, low quality of life, high divorce rates, and, despite its large single population, the lowest number of people actively searching for a relationship.”
New Yorkers have long complained about dating in the city.
Countless films and TV shows have mined local singles’ struggles for material.
Sex and the City, When Harry Met Sally and Girls immediately come to mind.
So the ranking feels familiar, but it still disappoints: why must finding romance be so difficult in such a celebrated city?
