Since being drafted to the Houston Rockets in 2021 we have been privy to witness multiple Jalen Green hair styles which our editorial will be highlighting. These styles range from
- Topknot Ponytails
- Cornrows
- Long Twist outs
- Short Curly Hair
- Manbun
- Off scalp Braids
Aside from the masses focusing on his athletic ability within the game there has been an equal amount of interest placed on the athletes’ various hairstyles.
Jalen Green Hair in Multiple Styles
Topknot Ponytails
From the images below were able to see that this look is worn both on and off the court. It’s great for its versatility all the while being practical for game time as hair won’t be able to interfere with his performance.
Jalen simply takes his hair and ties it back, sometimes high on top or sometimes lower, either way it’s a great look.
Cornrows
Cornrows now being a popular hairstyle in sports can be seen on the athlete with shaved sides.
He constantly alternates between the ponytail and cornrows. Since the protective style works great during the season it allows the player one less thing to worry about.
20 years later and the influence of Allen Iverson braids can still be seen on young athletes such as Jalen. Iverson being the first player to wear cornrows on the court has set the blueprint for expressed individuality.
Long Twist outs
Jalen Green’s hair is naturally long and curly due to his Filipino ethnicity on his mother’s side. It also appears that the thickness is a result of having African genetics, together the combination creates these twist outs.
Due to this hair type once any braid or other protective hairstyle is unravelled from his hair, we can see his natural curl pattern.
Short Curly Hair
Prior to being drafted to the NBA where we would witness his different hairstyles, we first saw his foundational look which was the short curly hair.
This was usually with shaved sides and sometimes with the use of bleach or dye on the tips.
During the period of 2018-2020 his hair was mostly modest and simple, its only since his debut that we have witness more experimental styles.
Braided Manbun
Jalen has also been seen to pull off the braided manbun on occasion. This is usually with 2 large braids, shaved sides, and a line up.
Similarly to the benefits of the topknot ponytail, it’s great for its versatility all the while being practical for game time as hair won’t be able to interfere with his performance.
The option to style braids in many ways is available to you, 2 big braids like Jalen, tribal pattern or traditional cornrows, the choice is yours.
Off scalp Braids
Lastly, we have seen Jalen styling off scalp braids during live games. There are stylish and low maintenance which stands to reason why athletes and rappers continue to make this their signature look.
Sectioned off in squares along the scalp using 3 strands of hair intertwined together creates the perfect look for both men and women.
