A Spanish Keanu Reeves superfan says she lost almost $750,000 after falling victim to a financial scam.

Canadian actor Keanu Reeves, now 59, began his screen career in 1984.

He has starred in major franchises such as The Matrix and John Wick.

Reeves has also played Neo, John Constantine and Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077.

Outside acting, he plays bass in the band Dogstar and writes for the BRZRKR franchise.

One fan, however, believed Reeves had made time for her.

A woman who calls herself Chloe told the Spanish TV show Y ahora Sonsoles that she received messages she thought were from the Hollywood star.

She said the impersonator first replied to one of her social media comments, and that led to daily chats.

The impersonator chatted with Chloe about rock music and motorcycles.

She said they exchanged audio messages in English.

During the supposed romance, the AI-generated Reeves persona began asking Chloe for money.

“He asked me for money to come here, 60,000 for a private jet, then he asked me for 5,000 for a special computer for him to create his scripts, John Wick 5, and to invest in Bitcoin,” Chloe recounted.

“I had given him 450,000 ($380,137) and my money never came.”

Chloe says she sent a total of 700,000 ($750,000).

She told viewers she had to pawn belongings and borrow from relatives to cover the losses.

It wasn’t a love scam, but an economic one,” she explained on TV.

After making 16 bank transfers and sinking into debt, Chloe grew suspicious.

She eventually realised the person was likely not the filmmaker or actor and stopped communicating.

Chloe is not the only woman to fall for a Keanu Reeves romance scam.

Earlier this year, a woman in Colorado said she believed she’d been speaking to the actor since 2022.

We had great conversations,” the 65-year-old told CBS News Colorado.

“We talked about everything from what we had for breakfast to sex in the shower.”

She admitted she had given the person access to her bank accounts and tax information.

In April 2024 she said she had sent about $5,000 in total, but denied being part of a scam.

I can tell you what movies he’s working on. We talked about all kinds of stuff,” she added.

She said she would only accept being a victim if “Keanu Reeves should walk in the door and tell me he didn’t do this.”

CBS reports the “Keanu Reeves Scam” has made headlines for years and attracted many media accounts.

Representatives for Reeves have repeatedly said he does not have a Facebook account or any other official social media presence.
