Davante Adams Hair evolution has been documented in real time which our editorial covers in its entirety.

Since his NFL draft he has styled his hair in multiple ways,

  • Buzz Cut
  • Afro
  • Starter Dreads
  • Shoulder Length
  • 2 Strand Twists (Blonde Tips)
  • Tied Up Dreads

Davante Adams Hair Type

Devante Adams hair falls under category 4, range is 4b to 4c which is the afro textured hair. This is the tightest curl pattern of all hair types.

Throughout the editorial you will see how his afro hair transitioned into dreadlocks via the comb coil method which he started back in 2015.

Buzz Cut

Davante was first introduced to the masses during his 2014 NFL Draft which featured the rookie in his relatively low buzz cut.

Whilst he no longer has the short haircut it marks time as all images that features this look will be associated with his football college years or draft year.

Short hair often times gives the more masculine look which is also more evident by the pictures above.

Afro

The foundation for his dreads began when he decided to grow out his afro whilst keeping a low taper fade on the sides.

At this stage we are able to really see his tight curls and dense coarse hair which he would have twisted at the ends.

The afro within sports is both a political statement and a sign of black pride and Colin Kaepernick’s afro and braids is the best example of this.

Starter Dreads

From 2015 to 2016 we began to see the transition from his loose afro hair into starter dreads.

starter dreads

His Starter dreads were easy to identify since they were small in size whilst hair was parted which gave a different appearance to his afro.

As time progressed we began to see his hair thicken and bud.

Shoulder Length

In the 2017 season we saw Davante’s hair out of the starter dreads phase and now becoming mature.

18 months from the point of his initial stage and we can begin to see his pencil size dreads which would give us an idea of how they would form later on down the line.

At this stage we also see Davante starting to place headbands for protection as he is mostly in helmets which can cause fizziness due to the friction running from his helmet.

2 Strand Twists (Blonde Tips)

As his hair gained length we began to see him style it in various ways with the most common being his 2 strand twists.

Due to its simplicity, protective benefits, ropey aesthetic with the ability to last weeks its easy to see why this is a common hairstyle within the dreadlock community.

In addition to this we saw Devante get more experimental with this style as he dyed the ends of his dreads to make them further stand out.

Disclaimer: Applying any sort of chemical to your hair is a very risky job as this can lead to breakage or thinning if not done correctly, therefore we always recommend you use a professional.

Tied Up

A common practice amongst football athletes with long dreads is having their hair tied up.

This allows the athletes to style their hair in such a way which removes attention away from their new growth whist simultaneously minimizing facial obstruction.

Outside of its practical benefits it also offers a cool unique look. Derrick Henry Hair is often worn up similarly to Davante for the same benefits we mentioned above.

Do your research if you want similar Dreads

Researching the style of dreads will be the most important 1st stage. Dreadlocks come in all different shapes and sizes.

Assuming that your inspired and want to emulate Davante Adams hair that these are called traditional dreadlocks which are often times started via the comb coil method.

After gathering enough information from research your next step is to see a hair professional for a consultation.

During the consultations locitians will be able to have a closer look at your hair type, discuss the process, hair products to use and avoid.
