Keeping in touch with your parents during a globe-trotting, adrenaline-fuelled trip can be hard.

When travellers do call home they often skip the worrying bits of their adventures.

Not so for Roger Ryan.

He Skyped his parents from Australia.

He did not say he was in a plane.

He also did not say he was about to jump 14,000 feet.

His mother and father appear on the call as he announces,

“just needs to get this out of the way, ok?”

They then watch him hurl himself from the aircraft.

The clip captures their howls and screams as he freefalls.

The Irish couple first look stunned.

But their reactions soon reveal the source of their son’s mischievous streak.

His father says,

“I can’t hear a word he’s saying,”

and his mother utters,

“Oh no, he’s jumping out of an aeroplane!”

A steady stream of oaths and exclamations follows as they breathe and laugh.

“F*** off!”

“Holy sh***,”

The father then shouts,

“I thought he was on a bus,”

and adds,

“Argh, you eegiot.”

Later the mother reaches for a phone to photograph him.

“I took a photograph of you!”

The clip forms part of a series by Hostel World.

The footage was filmed near Sydney.
