Jill Zarin, a star of “The Real Housewives” and a well-known social media influencer, recently shared a TikTok video that left many viewers both amused and bewildered.
In the video, Zarin revealed that she had packed an entire suitcase filled with Diet Coke for her European holiday, convinced that the popular soda wouldn’t be available across the continent. 🧃
According to Zarin, European stores only offer Coke Zero or Coke Light—two alternatives she clearly doesn’t favor.
The Misconception: No Diet Coke in Europe?
In the video, Zarin explains her reasoning: “So I’ve smuggled my Diet Coke from the United States because they don’t sell it in Europe. They only have Coke Light and Coke Zero, and it sucks.”
The footage, filmed by her daughter Ally Shaprio, shows the suitcase bursting with cans and bottles of Diet Coke, though, unfortunately, some had not survived the transatlantic journey.
A Social Media Frenzy
Unsurprisingly, the video sparked a wave of reactions online, with many viewers expressing disbelief at Zarin’s misconception.
Hundreds of comments flooded in, pointing out that Diet Coke is indeed widely available throughout Europe. One commenter humorously asked, “What’s happening here? Who is behind this misinformation campaign telling people that we don’t have these things over here? Because whoever you are, keep it up, this s**t is funny.”
Others chimed in with similar sentiments, with one person stating, “All EU has Diet Coke and Coke Zero,” while another added, “Never heard of Coke Light in my life—we have Diet Coke.”
Unhinged or Understandable?
While some may find the lengths to which Zarin went to ensure her beverage of choice was on hand a bit extreme, others might sympathize with the desire to have a taste of home while abroad.
However, this incident certainly highlights the importance of doing a bit of research before assuming that beloved products won’t be available in foreign countries.
Whether it’s tea or Diet Coke, chances are you’ll be able to find it somewhere on your travels—saving you both luggage space and a bit of embarrassment.
