It should now be apparent with 7 years in rap music that 42 Dugg braids are an important part of his personal image.

Today’s rappers with braids can be categorised by the artists styling their hair in cornrows or off scalp braids and from the images below its evident that his signature look is the off scalp braids with a middle parting.
Off Scalp Braids
Low maintenance, cheaper alternative and can be worn for weeks. It’s no surprise that artists such as 42 Dugg alternate to cornrows from time to time.
Being on the road, doing interviews and press creates long days. Due to cornrows being low maintenance it makes it easier for artists to manoeuvre around. Hair at that point is one less thing to worry about.
How and when did 42 Dugg Braids start?
How: His braids were achieved by growing out an afro, this was then put into protective styling such as cornrows and off scalp braids.
Ensuring the proper routine is in place will encourage thick afro textured hair that retains growth due to braids not being manipulated for weeks on end which would explain his fast hair growth.
When: His hair growth journey began between 2010 – 2011. As you can see from the image above in 2010 he had a relatively low buzz cut. After this period we did not see his hair short again. He debuted in rap back in 2014 with braids so its safe to say his hair growth took place within this period.
